Social Media Day on June 30

The Social Media Day is a worldwide event spearheaded by Mashable.com, which celebrates the connected generation around the world on June 30, 2012. In the Philippines, several key cities would take part in the celebration, which is very appropriate because the country is hailed as the social media capital of the world.

One of these events will be a networking event for social media citizens, bloggers, and digital personalities at Tea 101 Taiwan’s No. 1 Drink located at Scout Bayoran corner Tomas Morato Extension, Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City. The venue is in front Hotel Rembrandt and IL Terrazzo Mall. The event starts at 7 PM on Saturday. Manila Social Media Day 2012 in particular aims to provide an appropriate venue for the community to mingle and meet-up offline, which can support better camaraderie afterwards through various social media and digital platforms.

The first 100 pre-registered participants at the venue will receive unlimited tea drinks and loot bags. In order to pre-register, just simply e-mail your contact information, social media accounts, and your answer to “What makes you interesting?”

Acclaimed director, producer, writer, & blogger Jose Javier Reyes (@DirekJoey) will share his insights about the new aspects of socialization on the Internet. Manila Social Media Day 2012 is brought to you by Flawless Face & Body Clinic, the genuine Thermos brand, Wild Ones Tattoo, and Dentiste Toothpaste.

Tour of Hope Prologue

I am torn between two rides this coming Saturday on May 7, the Diwata ng Maynila Ride at Bonifacio Bike Trail and Tour of Hope Prologue.

Diwata ng Maynila Ride will be participated by common Manila mountain bikers who live in Manila, and Manila born and raised. Bonifacio Bike Trail is located inside Bonifacio Camp in Taguig City, a 5 kms loop with an entry fee of Php 50 that serve as maintenance fee of the trail. Bonifacio Bike Trail is one of the closest playground of mountain bikers from Manila because it took 15 minutes bike all the way from our home. Facebook Invitation here.

Tour of Hope Prologue is a 100km fun ride from Fernbrook in Daang Hari to Naic, Cavite and back. This is a simulation ride for the upcoming The Tour of Hope 2011, a 5-day 500km ride that is set from May 28 – June 1, 2011. Starting from Quezon City to Laoag City to spread the word on the fight against cervical cancer. A fun ride open to all cyclists.

Registration starts at 530am in Fernbrook parking lot (Daang Reyna). Registration fee is Php350 only, inclusive of buffet lunch at Union Jack Tavern. Invitation is posted here in Facebook Event.

On Saturday, its Tour of Hope Prologue, part my preparation for Marinduque Extreme Series 3 on May 14 and The Globe Cordillera Challenge on May 21.

I would love to meet these new biker friends from Manila but I need enough bike mileage for these upcoming event. Hope to see you soon  *tears*

Ageless Warriors at UP

The weather was good to go to Camp Aguinaldo trails but plans changed because we failed to bring our IDs. We went to UP Diliman instead, to do few rounds.

UP Diliman’s Academic Oval is a paved road approximately 2.2 kilometers surrounded by colleges buildings. I did 10 loops inside the bike lane which gave me 22 kilometers biking fair enough training for my Terry Larrazabal Bike Festival cross country race. And guess who I met at the oval, some old folks from PMTB. They now call themselves as Ageless Warriors.

You’ll never know who will you meet along the trails or along the way.

Wow Pinay

Wow Pinay is a group of lady bikers who love biking around the city while wearing their accessories and comfortable dress. Take note.. not a jersey.

Last December 28, 2010, I joined the Menarque: Beginning of (Wo)menstrual Cycle Ride through Facebook invitation of Ms. Tina DC and Ms. Ethel Fortuno. I met the other girls and I was impressed on how they dressed up. It was so cool, refreshing and colorful. The group biked from the beautiful City of Makati to SM Mall of Asia.

Those who are interested to join Wow Pinay, they are inviting all lady bikers to participate to their free bike clinic PMS 101: Pinay Mekanika Series on January 30, 2011 at UP Sunken Garden, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
