Day 2: Marinduque Extreme – Cross Country

On my very first aggressive cross country, I close my eyes and pray. I asked God to grant me the strength I need, joy of this sports, to keep me safe from injury or else my Mom will not allow me to race again. I hope I can make it to 33km trail mountain biking.

Who would not be amazed with these lovely duathlete ladies behind me as they competed once more for cross country race? I just wondered what kind of legs they possessed.

The Marinduque Trail is known for its difficult track, extreme downhill and with most difficult level trails that aggressive mountain bikers are looking for.

Among the ladies, it was Carla who did the extreme downhill. I can describe it as single track downhill approximately 40 degress angle to the ground and loose soil. I envy her toughness. She made it and I am proud of her.

I have been once to bike clinic hosted by primed mountain bikers in the Philippines. I know the basics, I know what to do yet still afraid to do it. I got butterflies in my stomach whenever I see a steep downhill.

Thank you Lord for allowing me to finished this extreme cross country.  It was fun and challenging. At the finish line, I finally met Dr. Ed Ancheta with Cong. Allan Velasco recognizing our efforts to visit Marinduque.  I told them, “you’re trail is one of kind”.   Looking forward to more challenging Marinduque Extreme next year.
