Ronda Pilipinas Fun Ride

Last July 24, I made it to attend two events in Manila, the Rexona Run in SM Mall of Asia Grounds and LBC Ronda Pilipinas: Ronda Na Fun Ride. I went to Luneta by myself right after I finished my 5k run.

Ronda Na! Fun Ride was a successful event because fun riders and weekend bikers joined the Fun Ride Category while professional/elite cyclists gathered to compete for Ronda Pilipinas test race.  The proceedings from the collected registration will go to Philippine National Police’s Tour Police Unit new bikes.

Going back to the main race, the rain didn’t stop them to pedal. More than 100 elite/professional cyclists from different provinces worn their one of kind Rudy Project jersey. The cyclists did not compete as a team but, they competed individually as the first finisher awaits Php15,000.00 tax-free.

I like the part when the peloton formed a straight line, 3 laps before the finish line, some of the spectators told me that the speed increased from 25% to 30%. It was vividly fast. During the last lap, about 200 meters away, before the cyclists crossed the finish line, some of them fell off the ground because they were too close to one another.  Some were wounded but only minor injuries. They were taken care of the officials of LBC Ronda Pilipinas.

I have few list of concerns, like for an outdoor event like this, the need of portable toilet and baggage counter were missed. Luneta Park does not have clean and comfortable restroom, if they have paid restrooms, they are not easy to reach and direction to get there is not available. As for the baggage, few cyclists arrived backpack to Luneta Park and it would be good if their belongings are properly attended for security purposes too.

The organizer admitted their lapses on this, and they said that it will be corrected on the succeeding events.

I would like to thank LBC Express for giving me a chance to meet these prominent cyclists in the country, hoping to watch the LBC Ronda Pilipinas, the Finale race on September.
