Launching of Bacoor Bike Lanes

When I learned about the launching of bike lanes in Bacoor, Cavite, I remember  this inspiring MILO jingle from a TV commercial … “great things starts from small beginnings.” It is every bikers dream to make Philippines a bike friendly country and in these small steps of ours and local government, I believe we can make it happen.

Let us meet in Bacoor to support this project. Invitation is posted below.

An open invitation to everyone to the launching of Bacoor Bike Lane along Daanghari, Bacoor, Cavite. The bike lane will start in Phoenix Molino Gas Station up to Verdana. This Bike lane will serve as an awareness that the Municipality of Bacoor is a bike-friendly place which treats the biking community with the same courtesy and safety that it offers to all road users.This is the first municipality in Cavite to implement a bike lane, a project that is worth undertaking.

When: August 20, 2011 September 24, 2011
Time: 7:00am
Where: Phoenix Gas Station, Molino Corner Daanghari, Bacoor, Cavite (assembly area)
Parade Route: Phoenix Gas Station up to Verdana along Daanghari
A project of Municipality of Bacoor supported by Phoenix Gas Station, Grantrail Cycles and CAMBIO.

Manila Day Ride is a Century Ride

What does century ride means to me? It means patience and determination.

Yes, I made my first century ride for this year in The Manila Day Ride. It was nice to be back in long riding and it won’t be possible without our friendly friends from Padyak Manilenyo and Cambio.

Padyak Manilenyo are mountain bikers from Manila and near by Manila, who I biked with from Manila while, CAMBIO also known as CAvite Mountain BIkers Organization are bikers from the south who led us the way to Tagaytay.

We were 11 bikers when we left Manila at exactly 0415 and on our way, some mountain bikers joined us and rode towards Phoenix Gas Station, Molino, Cavite. Our route to Molino is here:

San Andres St. – Osmena Hi-way – SLEX – West Service Road – Alabang – Filinvest Corporate City – Daang Hari – Molino Road

We were surprised when 16 Cambio came to Phoenix Gas Station in Molino, Cavite to welcomed us and joined the ride. I knew few of them as they are listed in my Facebook friends and met them in some organized rides in Philmofo and races. Our route to Tagaytay:

The ride to Tagaytay won’t be complete without seeing the beautiful scene of Taal Lake and its volcano. The ride ends up here and time to return to typical noise and traffic in Manila.

Century rides are known to be long and hard.  Its always challenging and demanding.  Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how hard and long the ride is, as long as you rode it with good friends like these mountain bikers I biked with, long ride is just a piece of cake. :)

Marshal Night at Tiendesitas

After the nightmare I had back in Gen. Trias during the Tour of Hope Prologue in the morning, time to relax and party with the rest of the Tour of the Fireflies marshal held last Saturday, May 7 at Tiendesitas in Pasig City. There were lots of gifts that have been raffled off from Firefly Brigade’s sponsors.

I would like to thank Enrique Pineda, President of Firefly Brigade, for giving me a chance to be a part of the historic event in the Philippines as a Tour of the Fireflies’ volunteer Marshal.

Tour of Hope Prologue

I am torn between two rides this coming Saturday on May 7, the Diwata ng Maynila Ride at Bonifacio Bike Trail and Tour of Hope Prologue.

Diwata ng Maynila Ride will be participated by common Manila mountain bikers who live in Manila, and Manila born and raised. Bonifacio Bike Trail is located inside Bonifacio Camp in Taguig City, a 5 kms loop with an entry fee of Php 50 that serve as maintenance fee of the trail. Bonifacio Bike Trail is one of the closest playground of mountain bikers from Manila because it took 15 minutes bike all the way from our home. Facebook Invitation here.

Tour of Hope Prologue is a 100km fun ride from Fernbrook in Daang Hari to Naic, Cavite and back. This is a simulation ride for the upcoming The Tour of Hope 2011, a 5-day 500km ride that is set from May 28 – June 1, 2011. Starting from Quezon City to Laoag City to spread the word on the fight against cervical cancer. A fun ride open to all cyclists.

Registration starts at 530am in Fernbrook parking lot (Daang Reyna). Registration fee is Php350 only, inclusive of buffet lunch at Union Jack Tavern. Invitation is posted here in Facebook Event.

On Saturday, its Tour of Hope Prologue, part my preparation for Marinduque Extreme Series 3 on May 14 and The Globe Cordillera Challenge on May 21.

I would love to meet these new biker friends from Manila but I need enough bike mileage for these upcoming event. Hope to see you soon  *tears*
