The Philippine Air Force Officers Ladies’ Club (PAFOLC) will hold a fund raising run dubbed as “Takbo sa Karunungan, Kinabukasan ng Kabataan” on 24 June 2012 at the Venice Piazza, Mckinley Hill, Taguig City. The activity includes a 3km, 5km and 10km fun run which is open to ALL AGES.
The proceeds of the event will go to the scholarship program intended for the dependents of PAF Personnel who were either Killed-in-Action or totally incapacitated while in line of duty. Our soldiers, civilian employees, military dependents and civilians, both young and old will join the said activity.
Check out the Registration areas at ROX in BGC, Riovana in BGC Branch, Riovana in Katipunan Branch, Venice Piazza, Mckinley Hill, Taguig. On site registration will be set up and open by 3AM.

65th AFP Anniversary Run - Singlet
Safeguard Active hosted a very unique event dubbed “Beat Coach Rio” at Terra 28 Park, Bonifacio Global City, near Riovana last June 5. Coach Rio challenged the runners to beat his best time 2.30 seconds in a 20m dash and someone actually beat him, he was JP Sabido, Asian and World Taekwondo champ. The winner got Php20,000 GC from Riovanna and top 5 runners with best time got a brand new Go Pro Hero 2.

How to beat Coach Rio? I provided a short video I took at the event and watch how a sprint runner ran with virtual Coach Rio in a 20m wide projector screen.
Rain didn’t stop the runners and spectators to see the event and challengers. Some photos here.

Just wondered what will be the next title of Safeguard Active event, would it be “Who Beat JP Sabido?” Well, why not! Congrats Taekwondo Master JP Sabido.
The day before Timex Run event, friends from Runrio told me that only selected sports bloggers has given a chance to run with Piolo Pascual at 10K starting line and I was one of them. I was excited so, I decided to buy a new pair of shoes to look cool for that moment. I went to different running shoes in BGC but I ended up at Riovana.
A lady crew from Riovana who helped me choose the proper shoes for my foot shape also advice me to check out their Experia Thorlos socks since my running shoes has not break-in yet. She said running shoes has to break-in approximately six (6) weeks prior the race run. This is to avoid injuries like blisters and foot pain.
I tried the sample socks and it was really soft. It has padding in the toes and heels. When I tried it in my new running shoes, it was cushioned.
During my 10k run, I was impressed by Experia Thorlos socks because I didn’t feel my shoes while running. The material was superb, it was very light and breathable. Texture was not that thick and thin. It was a blessed run because I didn’t get injured and blistered. This socks saved my day.
The Thorlos socks run about Php800.00 to Php900.00 per pair. A bit pricey but sulit!

Riovana: Sole of Running
Right after the BGC Run launching held at Itallanis at Bonifacio High Street, me and the other bloggers went to Rio’s newly opened store located at 28th Street, corner 9th in Bonifacio High Street called RIOVANA. A running store designed by a runner for the runners.
While looking around and checking what’s inside, I asked Rio what is in Riovana that other running stores don’t have? He replied, aside from shoes and running stuff, there will be a sports doctor to attend runners’ medical needs, shower rooms and spa that will be called “sole searching”. He invited us to attend the so soft opening of Riovana the next day but I was not able to come due to few obligations.
Maybe, I will visit his store next week… by the way, Congrats Coach Rio.
