  1. still lance armstorng is the best..he gonna livestrong on the cycling communities because of what he done and not for the controversies he’s facing right now..he’s been an inspiration to all the people hoping to conquer every obstacle even though they were on the days that they have their biggest upset on their life..he’s the true ambassador and no can replace him until they can overdone what he gave and conquer on he’s career.. LIvestrong still the motto of all the cyclist who want to be the best..^^

  2. I grew listening to AM radio station where a blow by blow commentary about the now-defunct Marlboro Tour of Luzon is being heard of by millions of running enthusiasts and fans around the archipelago including my father. I was able to follow the careers of Pagnanawon, Catalan, Igos, Dolosa, Llentada and Guieb, all former tour champs. But my idol is Victor Espiritu, not because we were of the same age (hehe!) but because of his exceptional talent. Sobrang bilis at walang takot! I actually saw him bike in person. Too bad the tour was scrapped, but he was able naman to showcase his talent in other tours here and abroad.

  4. Lance Armstrong, despite all the controversies he’s into, he will remain a legend in cycling.. Won the Tour de France for a record-setting seven consecutive years from 1999 to 2005, Surely that record will stay for years, decades or possibly for centuries before it can be duplicated…. Lance Armstrong is the best of the best. He is my cycling HERO…

  5. My cycling heroes are the men who ride their bikes daily to work for their family. These heroes brave the dangerous Manila roads because of the crazy drivers out there, the pollution emitted by ill-maintained vehicles and the unpredictable weather. I salute these guys whenever I see them on the road. Each has his own story, his own successes and failure – heroes, just the same.

  6. My cycling hero would be my lolo! He was the one who taught me how to ride, and through the years is still teaching me new things both in life and cycling. Even now that he is almost 90 years old, he still rides his mountain bike. A bike that isn’t even fitted for him and very heavy. He usually bikes around noon after all his chores are done, solar powered lolo! He is my idol and hero!

  7. still Lance Armstrong as my cycling hero giving a big contributions in the cycling community. he’s trully an inspiration winning the Tour de France seven consecutive times and a podium finish in several triathlon races. hell yeah!:)

  8. Who is your Cycling Hero” and why

My idea about the answer for this question is about a man who has the passion to win and sacrifice a lot for training. The guy who won the 2012 Tour de France, Bradley Wiggins. As a triple Olympic champion, Bradley Wiggins was already a household name in the world of cycling, but his achievement in winning the 2012 Tour de France is set to propel him into the realms of global sporting stardom. The 32-year-old, crowned champion on the Champs Elysees in Paris on Sunday, is the first Briton to win the prestigious event – a remarkable feat considering this is the 99th time the race has been held since 1903. Victory for Wiggins is the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to his passion and few could begrudge him the rewards likely to follow. To the man himself, though, joining a roll of honor that includes his childhood idol Miguel Indurain may trump any material prizes on offer.

Among his many accomplishments, Wiggins holds two unique achievements: he is the only cyclist to have won the Tour de France and an Olympic gold medal in the same year and the only person to have won a Grand Tour and a gold medal in Olympic track cycling. Wiggins has won seven Olympic medals, including four gold, the joint most of any British Olympian and the third most gold medals by a British Olympian, behind Chris Hoy and Steve Redgrave. Wiggins’s career began in track cycling, where he specialized in the pursuit and madison events, before he gradually moved towards road racing. He has won six cycling World Championships, his first in 2003 and his most recent in 2008. Wiggins won a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics, three additional medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics, two golds at the 2008 Summer Olympics and one gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics. After the 2008 Olympics, Wiggins took a break from the track to focus on the road. Initially viewed as a time trial specialist and a rouleur, Wiggins showed his ability in stage races when he came in fourth at the 2009 Tour de France, then the joint highest placed finish by a British rider in Tour history. In 2010 he was hired as the leader for the new Team Sky, and won the opening stage of the 2010 Giro d’Italia. His first major stage race victory came at the 2011 Critérium du Dauphiné. Wiggins finished 3rd in the 2011 Vuelta a España, becoming one of three British riders to make the podium in a Grand Tour. Ten days later, Wiggins won the silver medal in the time trial at the 2011 UCI Road World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2012, he won the 2012 Paris–Nice, the 2012 Tour de Romandie, and the 2012 Critérium du Dauphiné, before winning the Tour de France and taking gold in the time trial at the Olympics.

Furthermore, Bradley Wiggins rule them all!!

  9. Lance pa rin. He excels in tri, road races & mtb. If TDF riders doped, he is still the fastest of them all.
It does not mean I condone the cheating. As a cyclist, he still made a feat.

  10. i’m new to the sport but i’ve been a biker since i was little. my two older brothers would be my personal heroes because they were the ones who taught me to ride. they were bmx bikers who rode and raced in the 80s when bmx was the in thing to do. they won races too!

as for the popular riders, lance armstrong is still an icon for me, if only for livestrong and the worldwide drive to fight cancer. granted he gave himself and riding a bad name, but his influence (the positive ones especially) will always be felt.

  11. My cycling hero is Ariana of Team KTM! She is such a jolly person who really is an ambassador of the sport of xc racing! With all the wins she has been garnering, surely she has a long way to go in the cycling world!

  12. Carlo Guieb was a quiet but stand out of the crowd for being the back to back champion on Tour of the Philippines. Even though he experienced an accident on one of his tour campaign he come with a inspiring victory after the following year. He’s an ultimate mountain king for Baguio to Baguio laps
